Want to look good?

Many people call me and  ask if my boxing will help them lose weight.

I find this question difficult to answer as the result may vary from person to person.

In general boxing training is one of the best ways to get a lean and fit body.

As a fighter you realize that those with the perfect bodies don't always win it's how you use leverage, speed and movement.

Those who do a lot of weights can but not always bind themselves up which makes them slow and jerky.

I encourage the use of light weights (max 3kg's) and lots of shadow sparring, core strength in abdominals and lower abdominals plus good posture are the key to looking great.

I  try to incorporate Pilates style core strength exercises as well medicine ball & fit ball to enhance abdominal strength.

But as a great Pilates trainer said many time 'Ladies don't wish  away your curves' & unless you are fighting, 'throw away the scales', weight redistribution will make you a happier person, pure weight loss will often be short term and just make you unhappy.

Generally slow and steady wins the race, make your training progressive and avoid injury and make your goals long term.
