Boxing for Self defence

A few are born to fight, Some have come up the hard way and have experienced tough times on the street, which has forced them to fight out of pure survival.

For the most of us though we basically deplore violence and avoid it all our lives however we would like some chance of being able to defend ourselves if the need arose.

The Ultimate Fighting phenomenon has shown the that ground fighting skills combined with punching and kicking probably represent the most effective combination of skills needed to tackle any opponent.

However it must be remembered that these are elite fighters who have extensive martial arts training usually 10-20 years of serious training in multiple disciplines and who often succumb to horrific injuries for their profession.

However I am now proud to be able to offer a ultimate fighting/ judo/jiu jitsu grappling classes as part of out program which will round out our self defence skills without going to the extremes the cage fighters go to.

Boxing training especially when combined with sparring offers the quickest and safest route for most people to become effective enough to defend themselves against most attacks or at least give themselves a sporting chance.

There is something most primitive and basic about making your fist like a rock and smashing the enemy with it. It is as old as man itself.

The difference between a trained boxer and the untrained person is in the power they can unleash and although I have nothing against fitness boxing, there is a marked difference between them and the way our students through understanding how to get the whole body behind a punch deliver a blow.

If someone dedicates themselves to a couple of regular classes a week at our studio then after 3 months they are likely to be in a position that they would be a far more serious opponent than when they started. 

For those that put in 2 years or so and advance in rank and the levels of sparring that we have, they are likely to be at a stage of being able to reasonable fight full contact sparring and be able to execute a knockout blow on most people.
