Opportunities Become a registered coach with ABA (Amateur Boxing association registered for Olympic competition) and be able to be a cornerman in competition. To do this you have to be sponsored by a gym and have experience in coaching students within an established school but once registered it is then possible to open your own school and have students. For professional personal trainers this can be a great qualification to have and could even be an alternative insurance wise as clubs can be insured under the government backed NSW sporting injury commission. Once a club is formed for the purpose of the sport of boxing you can be insured with the NSW sporting injuries committee backed by the government a no fault inexpensive insurance with limited payouts for serious injuries based on the limits laid down by legislation . This creates a viable alternative for fitness professionals rather than being locked in to the fitness industry style accreditation. Most insurances will not cover boxing especially sparring or competition whereas the sporting injuries committee is specifically designed to cover all contact sports with no need to prove fault. At present I do not employ any staff with my loyal senior students taking a few classes only to spread the load however I am more than open to a trusted member opening under my brand name. There may be some small association charge but in general I am not aiming to make money from this but spread the good word of our trusted brand. In the future there may be an opportunity for an apprentice but they will likely be a talented student who will forge their own career in boxing
